The Latmos mountains, which gave life to the Carian cities for thousands of years and contain 8000-year-old rock paintings, ancient cities and monasteries, are covered with rock formations that you cannot see anywhere else on earth. Among the stone pine forests, 200 million-year-old giant gneiss rocks, small rivers consisting of water leaking from the bottom of the rocks, colorful anemones. The journey between Latmos and the rich flora of Latmos takes you to a completely different world.
Your first goal here should be to see ancient cave paintings. You can watch virtual Latmos tours at the Latmos Visitor Center in Karakaya Village, or take part in nature walks starting from a historical path near Gölyaka, accompanied by professional or local guides. During the walk, you start to see rock paintings drawn about 8000 years ago on the huge cave walls formed inside the rocks. In these paintings, where you can find the oldest known history of Aydın, happiness is depicted, unlike other rock paintings in the world.
