Akyenikoy

Akyeniköy is a unique and rapidly urbanized neighborhood with Milet ancient city on one side, Menderes Delta on the other side and Bafa Lake on the other.

The coasts that it once surrounded as the sea gave the opportunity to become a magnificent commercial center, and these coasts filled by the Menderes River became a fertile plain over time. Thousands of years ago, while the powerful Milet made a name for itself with its three large harbors, today the settlements scattered around each corner have become known with the Menderes Plain ... One of these settlements is Akyeniköy.

Next to the ancient city of Miletus, this place preferred by Yörük Ali Pasha, Mumcu Osman, Haci Topal, Haci Kerim and Koroglu families to pass settled life in 1927, was known as "Yesilkoy" in those years. It is not a coincidence or wish. Yeşilköy name; it is the color of the plain that stretches to the eye every spring ... It is the color of people's joy, hope and labor with life ... It is not in vain. rest, exaltation in the connotations of color ...

However, in the same year when he earned the right of headman, Yeşilköy name became "Yeniköy". It is the name of a beginning "New ...", that is not separate from the essence of "Green ...". On the contrary, it is complementary, removing the missing parts. What is missing? Of course, more people merge with their lives, as they merge and multiply with people. Rapidly reproduced Yeniköy people ... Yeniköy has been one of the most preferred places for the nomads, who have lived in hair tents for years, to feed their animals and provide their livelihood. Yeniköy also welcomed our war-torn immigrants. As the address where their longing for dorm ends ...

Yeniköy also deserves the word "Ak" as it is a place where tens of families start a different life. When it became a town in 1991, these two concepts called "merge"; "Ak-Yeniköy" would be better, the name of the place where hardworking, loving, stubborn, believing people live for more beautiful. Don't let the numbers mislead you; Ak-Yeniköy, where an exemplary development process of our recent history has been experienced, as we said at the beginning, extends to the ancient city of Milet next to it, one end is fed by our immigrant fellows, each of whom is a subject of a history book, its tradition, and the other end is powered by a history book. Ak-Yeniköy, the heir of a deep-rooted and strong past, is the region of people who bring different expansions to this heritage by developing them.

Akyeniköy, which has been established as a muhtar with a fence barrack, and has a municipality in Didim, today; With the awareness of its heritage and mission, two different realities abandoned to its fate, which I have been confused with misunderstanding and policies; It resists an economic structure indexed to agriculture and the two sides of the Aegean that are not brought together, can not be brought together, with rational, resistant and self-confident approaches and paddle against the current. While preparing the infrastructure of being a modern city where 90 thousand people can live on the one hand, on the other hand, the most decent work, with the awareness of being right in the presence of history, takes small but also giant steps for "Peace" in the Aegean.

Nothing happens spontaneously on earth. Everything is the result of a conscious or unconscious choice. Ak-Yeniköy, which has been aware of this fact since the first day of its establishment, has a structure that has been able to integrate its existence with its unit, to do all kinds of cumulative work required by it, and to contribute to this time period. For this reason, it exists and will exist in the future ... By taking the place it deserves in its white pages as well as a peace pigeon of history, by writing its name in the modern and peaceful world of the future ... It is the first Mayor of Akyeniköy, Recep Karakaya.
